Taylor Swift Wears Christian Dior Haute Couture for Wedding

Giving a new twist to wedding day unison, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce selected styles from Christian Dior haute couture for their wedding ceremony Friday at Madison Square Garden

By doing so, the 14-time Grammy scored a major coup. She is now the first celebrity to wear a couture wedding dress by the house’s much-coveted creative director of women’s, men’s and haute couture, according to a press release issued by Swift’s publicist Tree Paine.

The NFL player and “The Tortured Poets Department” creator were said to have worked closely with Anderson, a leading designer in the global fashion scene. Swift and Kelce also both sported custom Christian Louboutin shoes. The 36-year-old bride kept up her star status with Cartier jewelry.

After Swift and Kelce officially wed, LED screens outside of Madison Square Garden flashed “JUST&T Married!” Instead of having a traditional bridal party stacked with bridesmaids and groomsmen, Swift tapped her brother Austin to serve as her man of honor and Kelce turned to his brother Jason to act as his best man. The well-dressed crowd at the black-tie event included Gigi Hadid, Karlie Kloss, Dakota Johnson, Camila Cabello, Erin Andrews, Hugh Grant and Bradley Cooper. Kloss was a bit of a scene stealer in a strapless liquid gold-colored Tove dress, as was Cabello in a red lace billowing frock. Comedian Adam Sandler officiated the nuptials.

The two-day celebration kicked off Thursday night with a rehearsal dinner at Madison Square Garden, where attendees like Selena Gomez, Lena Dunham, Jack Antonoff and his sister Rachel were photographed in transit. Gomez upped the glamour factor with a strapless black lace dress, Jimmy Choo shoes and Fernando Jorge jewelry. Another style setter, Suki Waterhouse, donned a black multicolor embroidered midi dress from Carolina Herrera’s creative director Wes Gordon. The striking look is from the designer company’s pre-fall collection.

Anderson is right at ease with celebrity clientele, having worked with Zendaya, Rihanna, Beyoncé, Miley Cyrus and other top-shelf talent. Last year Anderson was WWD’s “Newsmaker of the Year” — and for good reason. He wrapped up an acclaimed 11-year tenure at Loewe; staged his first men’s and women’s ready-to-wear shows for Dior; unveiled a new look, approach and retail concept for his beloved JW Anderson brand that’s already clicking; curated a couple of art exhibitions; unveiled his latest collaborations with Moncler and Uniqlo, and wrapped his third costume design assignment from filmmaker Luca Guadagnino, whose next picture is titled “Artificial.”

As Dior’s creative director of women’s, men’s and haute couture collections, he is Dior’s eighth couturier and the first designer to oversee the couture, women’s and men’s divisions. Born in Northern Ireland in 1984, Anderson studied menswear at the London College of Fashion and graduated in 2005, before going on to work in visual merchandising at Prada under Manuela Pavesi. He consulted for several brands before debuting JW Anderson in London in 2008, which gained interest for provocative and androgynous designs, such as frilly Bermuda shorts and bandeau tops for men.

The day-by-day planning of the buildout for the Swift-Kelce wedding has been international news all week. It also has snarled traffic and pedestrian access in and around Madison Square Garden, where dozens of New York City Police Department officers have been stationed this week. Perhaps taking a page from Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez, who donated 3 million euros to Venetian charities before they wed in Venice last summer, Swift and Kelce have given $26 million to more than 20 charities. Swift can hold her own in entrepreneurialism, having built an estimated $2 billion empire.
