Silent Hill f DLC adds legendary costume from the Fatal Frame II remake

Konami’s Silent Hill f won hearts and minds when it debuted last September. Not only did it do well critically, with Polygon’s review praising its art, characters, and story, but it also raked in plenty of awards across the games industry — particularly at The Horror Game Awards. It’s quickly become one of the most iconic additions to the Silent Hill franchise.

Fast-forward ten months. A brand-new DLC for Silent Hill f is available now; it combines Konami’s latest entry with a remake of one of the most terrifying Japanese horror games of all time: Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly. The latter came out in 2003 for PlayStation 2, and is still remembered as a horror gem of that era, praised for its use of a camera to fight ghosts, a mechanic that returned from the first game. In March 2026, Koei Tecmo released a remake for the Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox, titled Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly Remake.

Koei Tecmo announced back in late January that it had partnered with Konami and Square Enix to include free in-game costumes in both Silent Hill f and Paranormasight: The Mermaid’s Curse. However, details on what the costumes would be weren’t revealed until now.

Fans of Fatal Frame will recognize the costume as a pink, schoolgirl outfit belonging to Mio Amakura, the protagonist of Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly. Much like Silent Hill f‘s protagonist Hinako Shimizu, Mio is forced to fight for her survival against ghostly apparitions — though she at least has her sister Mayu as a companion.

Konami’s Silent Hill f follows Hinako, a high school girl living in Ebusigaoka, a fictional Japanese village, in the 1960s. What was once a lively, active mining town has largely been abandoned, and the town’s decay is reflected in the protagonist. Even among friends, she is considered an outcast because of her social standing. However, it’s Hinako who has to deal with the nightmarish events that come calling when a mysterious fog makes its way through Ebusigaoka.

If you’re a lover of both Fatal Frame II and Silent Hill f, run, don’t walk, to grab the free cosmetic download, available now on Windows PC, Xbox, and PlayStation.
