You Can Finally Preorder GTA 6

It’s not unusual for deluxe editions of games to include exclusive vehicles, costumes and other goodies, and GTA 6 Ultimate Edition takes this one step further with entire shops that appear to be exclusive to that version of the game. According to Rockstar, the Ultimate Edition will feature five different shops.

First there’s Rideout Customs, a car shop that lets you customize the interior and exterior of your vehicle. There’s Sara’s Unisex Salon where Jason and Lucia can get new hairstyles, freshen up their makeup or get a mani-pedi. Next is Stock 305, a streetwear shop where our characters can get some new threads. There’s also Electric Fang Tattoo which offers over 50 tattoos for either Jason or Lucia. Finally, there’s One-Eyed Willie’s, another car mod shop to make your ride ready to take on the backroads of Leonida.

Deluxe editions aren’t anything new, but some people on Reddit are upset about these shops being locked in the Ultimate Edition of the game.

“It’s their way of basically making the base game $100 while avoiding the headlines of the game being $100,” one person wrote.

I understand being upset about the $100 price tag, but the exclusive shops in the Ultimate Edition are effectively giving you access to additional skins and cosmetic items, similar to most video game special editions. They’re not walling off parts of the story. I don’t particularly care for cosmetic skins, and there’s no indication the Ultimate Edition will come in a special box or anything, so I’ll buy the base, $80 version. Call me when story-based expansions drop, then I’ll pay up.

That said, the $80 price tag is admittedly tough to swallow. I don’t like it — I’m still getting used to $70 games — but it also isn’t unheard of. The Switch 2 port of Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is also $80, and that game is three years old. At least GTA 6 is new and I’m paying for a cinematic experience that will likely take me months to fully get through.
