Man dies after falling from balcony during Madison Square Garden concert

A man died Saturday night after falling at a concert at Madison Square Garden, according to New York City police.

The man, whose identity has not been released, was attending a concert by the rock band Goose when he fell from what police described as an “elevated position.” Officers were called to 4 Penn Plaza, the arena’s official address, at 9:51 p.m. and arrived to find a 51-year-old man unconscious and unresponsive.

He was transported by the FDNY to Bellevue Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The fire department said reports indicated the man had fallen from a balcony.

Police said the investigation is ongoing.

Goose issued a statement on Instagram expressing grief and gratitude for those who responded.

“We are deeply saddened and heartbroken to learn of the tragic event that occurred at tonight’s show,” the band said. “We extend our deepest sympathy to everyone affected.”
