P.E.I. byelection to be held on July 13 to fill seat of former health minister

CHARLOTTETOWN — P.E.I. Premier Rob Lantz has announced that a byelection to fill the seat of former health minister Mark McLane will be held next month.

A statement says the byelection for the riding of Cornwall-Meadowbank will take place July 13.

McLane died in March at the age of 56 after a serious illness.

He was first elected in 2021 and represented the riding for the governing Progressive Conservatives.

McLane joined cabinet as finance minister under former premier Dennis King before later becoming Lantz’s health minister.

Lantz says McLane served his community with dedication and cared deeply about the people he represented.
