Belgium gets its 2026 World Cup campaign underway on Monday with a challenging first Group G fixture against a Mohammed Salah-led Egypt in Seattle.

The Belgians hold the unwanted record of being the European team to have qualified for the most World Cup tournaments without ever winning the trophy; this is the team’s 15th appearance. Boasting one of the best attacking line-ups in the tournament with Man City winger Jérémy Doku, veteran Napoli striker Romelu Lukaku and midfield linchpin Kevin de Bruyne, Rudi Garcia’s men look a decent outside bet for ending that run. The Red Devils are coming into the tournament on an impressive 13-match unbeaten run.

Much like its opponents today, Egypt’s hopes of a long run in this tournament will likely hinge on the fitness and form of an experienced star name. The seven-time African champions have had an encouraging build-up to the tournament with a friendly draw against favorites Spain, followed by a win over Russia and a narrow defeat to Brazil. All eyes will be on 34-year-old Salah, who will likely be looking to prove a point off the back of a disappointing final season in the Premier League with Liverpool.

How to watch the 2026 World Cup using a VPN for free

If you’re traveling abroad and want to keep up with all the World Cup action while away from home, a VPN can help enhance your privacy and security when streaming.

It encrypts your traffic and prevents your internet service provider from throttling your speeds. VPNs are legal in many countries, including the US and Canada, and can be used for legitimate purposes such as improving online privacy and security.

However, some streaming services may have policies restricting VPN use to access region-specific content. If you’re considering a VPN for streaming, check the platform’s terms of service to ensure compliance.

If you choose to use a VPN, follow the provider’s installation instructions to ensure you’re connected securely and in compliance with applicable laws and service agreements. Some streaming platforms may block access when a VPN is detected, so verifying if your streaming subscription allows VPN use is crucial.
