The Honourable Anita Anand, Minister of Foreign Affairs, today met with His Excellency Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Bahrain (Bahrain).

Building on 50 years of diplomatic relations, the Ministers reaffirmed the strong partnership between Canada and Bahrain and committed to advancing cooperation on shared priorities, including regional stability, economic resilience, trade and investment, respect for international law, and people-to-people ties.

The Ministers exchanged views on developments in the Middle East and underscored the importance of protecting civilians, supporting de-escalation efforts, and upholding international navigation rights in the Strait of Hormuz. Minister Anand expressed Canada’s solidarity with Bahrain, Kuwait, and other Middle East partners following strikes on their territory and amid heightened regional tensions.
