Police identify suspect in Ohio festival shooting that wounded 12

Ohio police are searching for a 20-year-old suspect and a “second shooter” in connection with a Saturday shooting at a neighborhood festival in Toledo that wounded 12 people.

Ka Nye Taylor is wanted on 11 counts of felonious assault in connection with the shooting at the Old West End Festival, the Toledo Police Department said in a statement Wednesday. It added that the suspect was identified following interviews and investigative leads.

Taylor was described as a 5-foot-11 Black man weighing 130 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.

Investigators have also received “photos of a second shooter” and are seeking the public’s help in identifying him.

Crime Stoppers and the U.S. Marshals Service are both offering rewards — $10,000 and $5,000, respectively — for information leading to their arrests.

The Saturday mass shooting left 12 people wounded and stemmed from “a dispute involving two rival groups,” police said Tuesday.

The oldest victim is 61 years old and the youngest is 14, police Lt. Dan Gerken said Saturday. He added that most of the victims were in their early 20s.

“While investigators believe some of the victims are intentionally targeted, the majority of those injured appear to have been innocent bystanders caught up in this senseless act of violence,” Toledo Police Chief Michael Troendle said Tuesday.

Police have estimated that three of the victims were involved in the dispute between groups, and the other nine were caught in the crossfire.

All of the victims are expected to survive, and nine have already been released from the hospital.

Troendle said Tuesday that officials are “still trying to piece all that together” in terms of how the shooting unfolded Saturday night.
