LoveShackFancy Resort 2027 Runway, Fashion Show & Collection Review

Velvet and jacquards and taffeta, oh my.

For LoveShackFancy’s resort 2027 collection, designer Rebecca Hessel Cohen took her think-pink ethos to a range of wares in much more decadent fabrics and richer tones than her past windswept chiffon dresses in bright rosy shades.

“We’re really paying attention to the fabrics, all of the details and elevating those,” said Hessel Cohen.

She revisited some past references, like “The Nutcracker,” as well as some new ones. “It’s me growing up in New York City in the ’90s and 2000s, this kind of fancy glamour,” she said. “We were all obsessed with this glorified, fancy, old New York — sparkles, furs, beautiful burgundies, and we really explored many more colors.”

She touched on all different shades of pink, but went into deeper and richer jewel tones than past collections, from deep merlots to emerald greens and even touches of black.

The brand’s client is criss-crossing the map, and to that end, Hessel Cohen focused on all types of weather. LoveShackFancy is reigniting its partnership with ski brand Bogner, for example, and she went a bit heavier on swimwear than in years past. The brand is also doing a few giftable items for holiday — think Christmas tree ornaments and snow globes — and for its more formal wares, she mixed a few more textures, patterns and embellishments than usual.

“You have the gorgeous satin ribbons, the mix of moiré, all the textures and the prints of this season. We brought in some home textiles, like continuing with that French, Marie Antoinette-type brocade, but we made it more playful,” she said in a nod to a dusty pink top. “We also mixed it with denim in the look book, and we did a crystal [studded] jean.”

Though she cast a wide net with the collection, Hessel Cohen pinned it all back to a single sentiment. “No matter how old, we want to weave that nostalgia and those childlike memories in,” she said. “It’s about what you imagine and what you want to believe.”
