Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya should be fine for ODIs: Sitanshu Kotak

NEW CHANDIGARH: The Indian team management expects Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya to join the ODI team for the three-match series against Afghanistan, which starts in Dharamshala on June 13. Rohit and Hardik are due to get fitness clearance from BCCI’s medical team at the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru.

Both were picked for the series subject to passing fitness tests. Rohit missed a substantial part of the IPL due to a hamstring injury while the BCCI wants to verify if Hardik is fit enough to bowl 10 overs in an ODI.

“I’ve honestly not got the news whether they have been cleared or not, but I’m sure they’ll be there. Whatever I heard, they are fine. But they have to go and do that fitness test or whatever the rule is. Before coming here (for the press conference), I have not asked the physio when they were actually going,” India’s batting coach Sitanshu Kotak said on Monday.

“The ODI players will join the team here and there may be a light practice day after tomorrow evening,” he added.

TOI understands that Rohit was due to visit the CoE on Monday while the younger Pandya brother has been there since June 2.
