So, what of those games? Personally, I am keen to give Herdling a go. This game is described as a “grand alpine expedition” which sees you ascending a mountain path with a herd of loveable beasts accompanying you. We awarded Herdling four stars on its release last year, with Jim Trinca calling it “a powerful, memorable story told not with dialogue but with interaction, movement, and art” in Eurogamer’s review.

I will also give Frog Sqwad – a co-op extraction puzzle-platformer – a go with my kids. I hadn’t heard of this one before, but the official blurb says you will “storm the sewers for the glory of the Swamp King”, which sounds like something my son will enjoy.

As for turn-based RPG Persona 5 Royal, we called it “both better and worse” than the original. “Great new gameplay features can’t help the fact that Persona 5 Royal drags on even more than its predecessor,” Malindy Hetfeld wrote in Eurogamer’s review.
