Earlier in the day, PROCEDURE AND HOUSE AFFAIRS members will continue to parse the details of Government House Leader Steven MacKinnon’s proposal to update federal election laws to include more stringent protections against foreign interference, including in nomination races and leadership contests, as well as add new requirements for parties to protect personal information. AGRICULTURE AND AGRI-FOOD members have blocked off an hour to discuss the availability of “business risk management programs” with representatives of the Canadian Alliance for Net-Zero Agri-Food, Canadian Animal Health Institute and Équiterre before getting a briefing on “food security in the face of global instability” from Canada’s interim competition commissioner, Jeanne Pratt. Meanwhile, NATURAL RESOURCES members are still exploring Canada’s “electrification, energy self-sufficiency and domestic energy security,” with representatives of the Pembina Institute, IDEA Control Inc. and Association québécoise de la production d’énergie renouvelable on the witness list.
