How much it actually costs to fly in British Airways’ latest business class product across the Atlantic depends on several factors. When analyzing the airline’s busiest transatlantic routes this summer, ticket prices upwards of €10,000 (~ $11,643) are not uncommon. On average, it will cost approximately €9,587 (~ $11,162) to fly on one of the airlines’ three busiest transatlantic routes in business class throughout July 2026, one of the highest-demand months for air travel across the Atlantic.

When comparing this to February 2027, one of the lowest-demand months for transatlantic travel, prices drop dramatically to only €2,085 (~ $2,427) on the same three routes from London Heathrow Airport (LHR). This means prices are 363% higher in July than in February. Important to note is also that while travel demand is higher in July, prices might also be higher since the price analysis is done in closer proximity to the flight date. However, it seems unlikely prices in February will ever reach the same heights as those in July, except in exceptional cases.

At the route level, the largest difference was observed on the route between Heathrow and New York (JFK), with peak-season prices around 402% higher at €8,966 (~$10,439). The highest absolute fare observed was on the route to Los Angeles (LAX) at €10,703 (~ $12,462), around 334% higher compared to the €2,467 (~ $2,872) average price in February. While distance does not always result in higher average prices, it is logical that flights to Los Angeles are slightly higher than to New York or Boston (BOS), as the airline needs to compensate for the additional fuel cost associated with the longer route. Prices on the route to Boston were 354% higher in the high season than in the low season, reaching an average of €9,092 (~$10,586) in July.

When looking to fly on British Airways in premium economy, World Traveller Plus, passengers can find significantly cheaper fares compared to business class, with average prices for a one-way ticket across the three routes analyzed reaching as low as €1,391 (~ $1,620) in February 2027. The difference between the high-demand month of July is also much smaller, with fares being on average 143% higher than February fares at €3,219 (~$3,747).

Compared with business class, premium economy fares appear to have weaker seasonal volatility. While premium economy pricing remained considerably more stable, peak summer fares still more than doubled on some routes, such as, to New York. In absolute terms, average July business class fares were approximately €6,368 (~$7,415) higher than premium economy fares, whereas in February, the gap narrowed to approximately €761 (~$884).

And while the routes analyzed above provide a realistic overview of transatlantic ticket prices in premium cabins, other factors may also influence the price actually paid for a transatlantic flight. Other than season and how far in advance a ticket is booked, ticket prices also depend on the exact route and the flexible conditions selected at booking.

At the same time, British Airways’ loyalty program Avios might provide attractive options, given that someone has collected enough points. While fees such as taxes and other surcharges remain applicable to reward tickets, they often total a few hundred euros and are significantly cheaper than a full-fare ticket.
