The United States and Iran once again exchanged fire, sending oil prices rising and casting new doubt on peace talks. Iranian media report that Iran’s forces first fired warning shots as American ships tried to pass through the Strait of Hormuz without authorization and that the U.S. military responded with strikes. An American official described the strikes as self-defense. NBC’s Richard Engel reports for TODAY.
