Chinese Mine Disaster Sparks Jump in Coal Prices and Stocks


Two thermal coal mines in Shanxi’s Qinyuan county, with a combined annual capacity of 1.8 million tons, have already halted operations, according to to Chinese consultancy Mysteel. Other major mining hubs, including Shaanxi, Inner Mongolia and Henan, have also launched inspections to prevent similar risks, such as gas leaks, following the accident.
