N.H. track: Exeter boys, girls sweep Seacoast Championship

EXETER – In front of their home fans, the Exeter High School boys and girls track teams each won the Seacoast Championship on Friday, May 22.

In the 13-team girls field, Exeter scored 156.5 points, easily beating second-place Oyster River (94). Portsmouth (88.5), Coe-Brown (63), Timberlane (44), Dover (32), Spaulding (20), Winnacunnet (20), Sanborn (18), Somersworth (8), Portsmouth Christian (4), St. Thomas Aquinas (2) and Raymond (1) rounded out the field.

In the 14-team boys field, Exeter edged out rival Portsmouth, 87-83 for first-place honors. Spaulding (76.5), Oyster River (66), Dover (61), Coe-Brown (57.5), Somersworth (35), Winnacunnet (35), Sanborn (19), Raymond (16), Newmarket (7), St. Thomas Aquinas (7), Portsmouth Christian (5) and Timberlane (3) rounded out the field.

Exeter girls quartet sets meet record

Exeter’s 4×400-meter relay team, consisting of Emma Roeder, Madie Poteet, Lexi Paterna, Izzie Bremer, set a meet record in a first-place time of 4 minutes, 01 seconds.

Exeter won three more events as Paterna placed first in the 800 (2:12.17), Martelle McBride won the long jump (16 feet, 03.5 inches) and Autumn Fabiano won the shot put (34-04.25). McBride also placed third in the 400 (59.92).

Exeter’s 4×800-meter relay team, comprised of Abby Riccio, Kendall McBride, Lena McRae, and Aubrey Zaimes, placed second in 10:31.72.

Exeter’s Lucille Beem placed second in the discus (104-06) and third in the shot put (33-05.5).

Other top-three performances by Exeter were turned in by Bri Paterna (second, 800, 2:15.46), Izzie Bremer (second, 400, 59.8), Molly Kells (second, 3,200, 12:17.81), Danica Caron (third, 800, 2:22.13), Zaimes (third, 3,200, 12:30.34) and Lexy Rogers (third, triple jump, 34-09.)

Exeter boys win two events

Exeter’s Logen Poteet won the 3,200 (10:07.96) and Colby Orleans won the shot put (40-0). Orleans was also fourth in the 300 (44.48).

Exeter’s Colton Ray placed second in the long jump (20-0.5), third in the 100 (11.63) and fourth in the pole vault (11-01).

Other top-five performances by Exeter were turned in by Eli Smith (second, triple jump, 39-6.5), Jack Thibodeau (second, shot put, 40-0.25), Thomas Eastwood (third, pole vault, 11-01), Avery Bourgeault (fourth, 400, 52.75) and Wally Dangora (fifth, 800, 2:00.46).

Both the Exeter 4×100 and 4×400 relays placed fourth. The foursome of Caleb Callaway, Gavyn Daley, Lucas Scott and Ray finished in 45.44 in the 4×100; and Bourgeault, Tyler Ream, Dangora, and Agee Griffith finished in 3:32.48 in the 4×400.

Spaulding’s Geldart shines in boys meet

Spaulding’s Aaron Geldart, won the 200 (23.64), placed fourth in the 100 (11.64), and ran a leg on the winning 4×100 (43.96) relay and a leg on the second-place 4×400 relay (3:30.05).

Teammate Quincee Lewis placed second in the 200 (23.93), and competed on the winning 4×100 and 4×800 (8:52.58) relays as well as the second-place 4×400 relay.

Caleb Plante won the long jump (21-10), was second in the 100 (11.52), and competed in 4×100 and 4×400 relays. Maverick Hope placed third in the javelin (141-04), and Brody Chaisson ran in the 4×100 relay. Troy DeAngelis Poland, Anton Broyles, and Nate Pederson joined Lewis on the 4×800 relay.

For the girls, Lela Takekoshi (8-07) and Olivia Huang (8-01) placed second and third in the pole vault, respectively, and Sara Boudreau was fourth in the triple jump (34-07).

Oyster River’s Baumgardt, Somersworth’s Labelle both win two events

In the girls meet, Oyster River’s Avery Baumgardt won both the 100 hurdles (15.85) and triple jump (35-08.5) and teammate Mollie Sexton won the javelin (113-01).

Portsmouth’s Leiana Cory won the 100 (12.72) and teammate Molly Flynn won the 300 hurdles (49.24) and Winnacunnet’s Sofia Parisi won the 3,200 (11:59.69)

In the boys meet, Somersworth’s Ray Labelle won both the javelin (161-06) and shot put (41-02.5). Portsmouth’s Deondre McAllister won the 100 (11.29) and Ben Bloom won the high jump (5-11), Winnacunnet’s Ryan Jamison won the 300 (39.51), Dover’s Melo Berdecia won the 800 (1:56.14) and Connor Lazarz won the discus (141-06), and Oyster River’s Oliver Lehman won the 1,600 (4:23.67),
