Reeves will not unveil any help on energy bills until at least October, when the energy price cap resets, which is a regulator-mandated limit on what suppliers can charge for units of gas or electricity, the person familiar said. The cap is first expected to jump 13% in July when it’s next updated, but the government isn’t acting sooner because people use less energy over the summer, the person said. The government hopes the Strait of Hormuz is open and energy prices have fallen by October but is doing contingency planning in case a response is needed, the person said.
