Footwear firm Caleres on Wednesday made it official, appointing Dan Karpel to the post of senior vice president and chief financial officer.
Karpel had been named interim CFO this past January, succeeding Jack Calandra, who left the company at the end of January to pursue other opportunities.
He rejoined Caleres in October 2025 as chief accounting officer. Prior to rejoining Caleres, he was CFO of Club Car Wash Operating LLC and at CW Holdings LLC, the legacy group that owned the Soft Surroundings and Coldwater Creek brands. He has also held chief accounting officer roles at Eyecare Partners LLC, Spectrum Brands Holdings Inc. and Brown Shoe Company.
“Dan’s deep understanding of our company, combined with his extensive financial and accounting expertise, has made him a valuable strategic partner since rejoining Caleres and taking the role of interim CFO,” Caleres’ president and CEO Jay Schmidt said in a statement. “His leadership and commitment to driving results as our CFO will be instrumental as we continue to advance our growth strategy.”
In other recent executive news, Caleres added Kristen Sosa to its leadership team in a newly created role in February, where she now has oversight as a division president for the firm’s New York brands. The portfolio include Stuart Weitzman, Allen Edmonds, Franco Sarto, Vince, Veronica Beard and Favorite Daughter. Caleres last August completed its acquisition of the Stuart Weitzman brand from Tapestry Inc. for $108.7 million. In the same month, Caleres also named Brian Costello as its division president for Famous Footwear.
