Several types of organic microgreens sold in Ontario and Quebec have been recalled due to potential E. coli contamination.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) issued the recall on May 15 for the following products:

  • Farm Boy organic broccoli microgreens (65 g) with best-before dates up to and including May 22.
  • Farm Boy organic mild mix microgreens (65 g) with best-before dates up to and including May 19.
  • Farm Boy organic spring mix microgreens (65 g) with best-before dates up to and including May 19.
  • Kyan Culture organic broccoli microgreens (65 g) with best-before dates up to and including May 22.
  • Kyan Culture organic mild mix microgreens (65 g) with best-before dates up to and including May 19.
  • Kyan Culture organic spring mix microgreens (65 g) with best-before dates up to and including May 19.

Anyone who bought those products should either throw them out or return them to where they were purchased, the agency said. They should not be eaten or served.

So far, no illnesses have been reported, the CFIA said.

Symptoms of an E. coli infection can include nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramps and watery or bloody diarrhea.

More severe infections can lead to strokes, seizures, kidney damage or even death, the CFIA said.

Anyone who thinks they may have fallen ill from consuming a recalled product should contact their health-care provider, the agency said.
