Conan O’Brien to Host the 2027 Oscars

The 2027 ceremony will be held on March 14th next year.

Despite a ratings dip this year compared to 2025 (9% in comparison), ABC and the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences are looking to keep the Oscars team in place for next year.

Conan O’Brien, who has hosted the show twice in a row now, will be back for 2027’s event, with ABC announcing the decision.

Conan began his late-night hosting career in 1993, taking over for David Letterman on NBC’s ‘Late Night.’ After an ill-fated, year-long tenure at ‘The Tonight Show’ after replacing Jay Leno in 2009, O’Brien later moved to TBS for ‘Conan,’ which he hosted from 2011 to 2021.

In recent years, he transitioned from anchoring a late night talk show to hosting a hit podcast, ‘Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend,’ and presiding over a podcasting empire under the banner of Team Coco.

A former writer on ‘Saturday Night Live’ and ‘The Simpsons,’ he has garnered 31 Emmy nominations, five of which resulted in wins.

When will the 99th Oscars be on TV?

The 99th Academy Awards will be held on Sunday, March 14th next year, once again at its regular home, the Dolby Theatre, televised live on ABC, streamed live on Hulu and aired in more than 200 territories worldwide.

But things are set to change after the 100th ceremony in 2028, as YouTube has scored the rights beyond that, with a venue switch to Peacock Theater at L.A. Live in downtown Los Angeles.
