IPPS-Iscte Launches Atlas of Portugal in Europe Platform

On the 40th anniversary of Portugal’s accession to the EEC, the Iscte Institute for Public and Social Policies (IPPS-Iscte) introduces the Atlas of Portugal in Europe, an interactive platform featuring essential socio-economic indicators to analyze and compare Portugal’s progress with other EU nations.

The platform is accessible and free to use, and serves as a vital resource for exploring socio-economic indicators across Europe. The launch was announced by ISCTE.

The Atlas provides a comprehensive collection of data allowing users to consult, compare, and analyze various indicators concerning demographic changes, labor markets, inequality, social protection, health, education, housing, justice, environment, and mobility. Isabel Flores, the executive director of IPPS-Iscte, describes the platform as an “analytical tool with a point of view” that enables comparative analysis of Portugal against other European countries as well as the average EU statistics.

The platform, which has been developed in partnership with Colabor, categorizes indicators into three main sections, facilitating country-to-country comparisons and providing insights into electoral results from 1986 to the present across the entire European continent. According to Flores, the platform stands out from more neutral data portals by offering a structured perspective.

This initiative not only highlights Portugal’s journey within the EU but also serves as a valuable tool for public analysis, electoral observation, and formulating effective public policies.
