Salomon Teams Up With Carpet Company on XT-Whisper Void, Release Date

Salomon is set to release a new collaboration with Baltimore, Md.-based skate brand Carpet Company this weekend.

According to the Amer Sports-owned athletic company, the collaboration centers around the XT-Whisper Void silhouette, which is interpreted through Carpet Company’s distinctively playful lens.

The design draws directly from the Maryland brand’s iconic 1995 Honda Acty Street van, nicknamed the “Habibi Express,” a daily fixture of its universe as much as a mode of transport.

With its high gloss red finish, complemented by the Whisper Void silhouette’s iridescent TPU, chosen for its reflective quality that echoes the van’s windows, custom graphics, and signature devil horns, the design and colorway capture Carpet’s tongue-in-cheek love of the unexpected.

The shoe will be released in a limited global run of 1,720 individually numbered pairs (a nod to Carpet Company’s Baltimore warehouse at 1720 Llewelyn Ave where the Habibi Express is stored), Salomon noted.

Founded in 2016 by brothers Ayman and Osama Abdeldayem, Carpet Company began as a self-taught, DIY project, screen-printing tees and skateboards by hand for their local community. That instinct-driven approach and a refusal to follow convention have grown into one of skateboarding’s most respected brands over time.

For Salomon, whose heritage is established in performance and outdoor functionality, the partnership reflects an ongoing expansion into cultural spaces where design and community intersect.

“Working with Ayman and Osama brings a fresh perspective to the product we know so well, encouraging us to explore new ideas while reinforcing the spirit that defines Salomon,” George Egan, director of merchandising for Salomon Sportstyle in North America, said in a statement. “As with all of our collaborations, it’s rooted in an authentic connection and a strong narrative that allows our brand to engage with the consumer in a meaningful way. This partnership embodies that commitment to pushing boundaries while staying grounded in Salomon’s community and culture.”

The XT-Whisper Void launches May 16 exclusively at Carpet Company retail, followed by a release on Carpetco.us on May 17 and a global release on May 21 on Salomon.com.
