Rejoice, Doormaker haters, for Mega Crit have removed him from Slay the Spire 2 in favour of a brand new boss

Another week, another Slay the Spire 2 patch! Or really I should say another couple of weeks. The new beta version of the game, v0.105.0, is ready for those of you on the beta branch to try out, and the first point of order is bi-weekly patching. “As you’ve probably noticed, we’re moving to patch every 2 weeks rather than weekly as outlined in our Early Access Disclaimer,” explain developer Mega Crit.

“This may be a bit surprising as the first game patched weekly, but it was a lot of work so it really sucked.” Mega Crit went on to explain that patching the roguelike every other week will allow for “bigger changes and more time working and polishing stuff before it goes out. It also allows more time for beta players to absorb and give feedback on changes.”

That’s obviously not a new patch thing in and of itself, but what is new is the Beastiary. As Mega Crit note, it’s only an “outline of what it will end up being,” but they hope that you’ll still have some fun seeing all of the game’s beasties and their animations and data, not all of which is fully implemented, listed out for you to peruse as your leisure.

Beyond that, a big boss change has taken place: the Doormaker is out, and Aeonglass is in. Last month, Mega Crit said they were taking on board all sorts of feedback related to Doormaker, a bit of a controversial boss, before they would fiddle with it any more. But he’s gone now! “While Doormaker had interesting micro decisions in the fight, he was over the complexity threshold of what we want and had lingering issues,” Mega Crit explain. “We decided that starting over fresh will let us hit what we actually want for an Act 3 boss.”

There are plenty of other tweaks, buffs, nerfs, art additions, UI improvements, writing fixes and more to be found in this beta update; you can read the full patch notes here.
