Pepê on Brazil vs Argentina final: “We’ll play our best football”

On Saturday (9), Brazil’s U-17 Women’s National Team will face Argentina in the South American Championship final. The match will be played at 7:30 p.m. (Brasília time) at Defensores del Chaco Stadium in Asunción, Paraguay. Midfielder Pepê looked ahead to the clash and said she is happy to play a final wearing the Canarinho shirt.

“I believe it will be a very difficult match. We know the quality of the other team, just as we also know our own. We’re going into this match very strong, especially because it’s a final, so we’re going to play our best football,” she said.

“Playing in a final, competing for a title with the Brazil National Team is anyone’s dream. I’m very happy that we’re playing in this final,” she added.

Pepê has been called up to the national team 10 times, making her one of the most experienced players in the squad. In 2025, she also played in the South American Championship, finishing as runner-up, and in the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.

The midfielder explained how she shares her experience with the younger players and thanked the coaching staff for their trust.

“I give them a lot of confidence, so everyone can show their best, because if they’re here, it’s because they have huge potential. So I also share a bit of that experience from having played in a South American Championship and a World Cup, and knowing what it’s like to represent the Brazil National Team,” she said.

“I’m very happy with the trust from the entire coaching staff and the players. Me, Andreyna, and some of the other girls… We have many leaders within the group, and that’s really nice,” she concluded.
