Jordan Hermann: Somerset sign batter on three-game deal

Somerset have signed South African batter Jordan Hermann for the next three County Championship matches.

The 24-year-old comes in with Tom Kohler-Cadmore sidelined with a fractured thumb, Lewis Goldworthy picking up a hamstring injury and Tom Banton yet to play this season because of a finger injury.

Hermann will be available to play in the upcoming fixtures against Sussex, Nottinghamshire and Warwickshire.

“We have suffered a number of injuries to key batters in the last month, so we felt that this was the perfect opportunity to strengthen the batting line up, and Jordan will certainly help to strengthen our options in that department,” said director of cricket Andy Hurry.

Hermann has scored more than 3,000 runs in 40 first-class matches and was recently called into South Africa’s squad for the first time for their T20 victory over New Zealand but was ruled out of the series early with injury.

Somerset first take on Glamorgan as they look for their third County Championship win in four matches.
