1. Simple Midi Dresses
Style Notes: Puff sleeves and full skirts are beautiful, and I’ve never seen a sweeping maxi I didn’t like, but the best summer dresses are the ones that you can simply slip on and step out. Leave all of the bells and whistles to your choice of jewellery and accessories, and opt for dresses that are light, don’t cling (and require minimal ironing). These are by far the easiest styles to wear with flat sandals and a basket bag by day, and a strappy heel and a mini bag by night, making them one of the most versatile pieces in your capsule wardrobe.

Style Notes: If I had to guess at just one piece that I know every fashion editor, influencer and industry insider has in their summer rotation, I’d confidently say an oversized shirt. Big shirts with rolled up sleeves and slouchy fits are all about the “borrowed from the boys” energy that implies that the wearer hasn’t thought too much about their outfit, but still manages to look polished at a moment’s notice. 7. Classic Sunglasses
Style Notes: The easiest way of pulling together your look? Don’t agonise over belts and jewellery, throwing on a pair of classic, black or tortoiseshell sunglasses will never steer you wrong. 2026 has thrown out a lot of sunglasses trends thus far, but the strongest are the ones that are all about simplicity. Oval, cat-eye and rectangular shades manage to add character to your outfit without taking away from the rest of the look, and after scaling down to my collection to just two pairs: one brown, and one black, I can confirm; the right pair really do go with everything.
