Florida’s FHSAA softball district tournaments have begun, the first step in a four-week process to determine the champions in each of the state’s eight classifications.

The Sunshine State has six teams ranked in the latest edition of MaxPreps national rankings with the No. 24 Cardinal Gibbons [Fort Lauderdale, FL] Chiefs leading the way. The Chiefs compete in the FHSAA’s Class 3A division, and they are the only nationally-ranked team at that level.
The state’s second-level Class 6A ranks, meanwhile, feature three Top 50 teams, including the No. 28 Doral [FL] Academy Firebirds, No. 35 Melbourne [FL] Bulldogs, and No. 50 Pace [FL] Patriots.
The district tournaments will continue through Thursday, April 30, before the state tournament brackets are filled out heading into next week’s regional quarterfinals.

Florida’s FHSAA softball brackets
National Top 50 contenders by classification and district
Florida has a total of six teams ranked in the MaxPreps national Top 50 as the postseason begins with No. 24 Cardinal Gibbons leading the way.
Class 6A District 1
No. 50 Pace is set to take on Tate Tuesday with the winner advancing to play for the district championship against the winner of Navarre vs. Crestview.
Class 6A District 7
No. 35 Melbourne received a bye to the semifinals where they’ll face Davenport on Tuesday for the right to play for the district title.

Class 6A District 15
No. 28 Doral Academy defeated Dr. Krop, 16-0, in the district semifinals, and they’ll take on Flanagan for the championship with the date and time still to be determined.
Class 4A District 3
No. 41 Baker County will take on ED White Tuesday with the winner advancing to the district championship game against the winner of Columbia vs. Riverside.
Class 3A District 14
No. 24 Cardinal Gibbons got a bye to the semifinals where Calvary Christian Academy now awaits the Chiefs who enter Florida’s FHSAA postseason as the state’s top-ranked softball outfit.
Class 2A District 7
No. 45 Montverde Academy received a first-round bye, and they are set to take on Lake Highland Prep in the district semifinals on Tuesday.
