“Unlocked the toilet door in the Euro Trash mission to prevent soft-locks” read Samson’s latest patch notes, which also introduce special drift cars

If you’ve spent days trapped in a loo after Samson cheekly locked you in one during a mission, then I bring good news. Liquid Swords’ latest patch for their buggy crime sim’s freed you from your bondage, while also adding some new tuned cars for you to race around while you celebrate no longer being stuck in the shitter.

Patch three dumps a bunch more bug fixes on top of its two predecessors’ attempts to wrangle the most pressing issues. Among the latest are one for a “teleportation and spawn” issue in the mission that previously left me softlocked, Rosary Requiem, and the aforementioned toilet door unlocking in the mission Euro Trash.

The devs have also, “fixed numerous spots where the player could get stuck in the terrain, fall through the world, or clip into objects”, which hopefully should mean no one else ends up trapped in a corner by some unclimbable fridges, as I did.

Beyond that, Liquid Swords are properly starting to get their teeth into wider tweaks and additions to the game, focusing on cars in this particular patch. They’ve “adjusted vehicle impact damage and scoring logic to be more consistent and reliable”, writing that their goal’s to allow folks to take less damage during driving jobs, making the repair bills that can easily zap away a huge chunk of your cash less punishing. On one hand, I can attest to ending up putting off repairs and simply not doing driving missions for a chunk of the game as a result, which isn’t ideal, but on the other, these punishing car repair bills are part of what give Samson’s debt loop tangible stakes.

That aside, one aspect I can unequivocally get behind is the addition of special rallycross and drift cars to garages, offering a chance to blaze around the streets of Tyndalston in even more reckless fashion. The melee fistfighting you’ll be doing once you’ve drifted to your destination’s also been tightened up a bit further animation-wise with this patch, which is good to see.

Finally, Liquid Swords say NPCs have been told to stop “taking a seat mid-fight or breaking out of combat to do similar idle animations”, which is sad. We’ve all been there. Trying to beat a guy up is tiring work, every goon needs a quick break once in a while.
