Barcelona shift transfer focus away from La Liga winger despite strong scouting

Barcelona’s transfer planning ahead of the summer window is increasingly centred around experience, and that shift is directly impacting their interest in Victor Munoz.

The Osasuna winger has been monitored closely by the club’s scouting department after showing strong intensity on both ends of the pitch.

At 22, he fits the profile of a modern wide player – aggressive in attack, disciplined defensively, and capable of adapting to different tactical roles.

Barcelona might not make a move

Despite that, Barcelona are unlikely to advance a deal and the decision is not linked to financial constraints.

His valuation remains within a manageable range, with a reported €40 million release clause and a lower buyback-related structure involving Real Madrid.

From a purely economic standpoint, the operation is viable. However, the issue lies in squad planning.

It is known that Barcelona are currently targeting reinforcements in three key areas: centre-back, winger, and striker, but the focus has shifted towards players who can deliver immediate impact.

As per Mundo Deportivo, the recruitment team is analysing experienced options across Europe, including players performing consistently at the highest level and those with leadership qualities.

This change in approach comes after internal recognition that the squad lacks authoritative figures in decisive moments.

The need is no longer just about depth or potential, but reliability under pressure.

Direction is defined

Under Hansi Flick, this direction has become more defined.

The manager is pushing for players who bring maturity, tactical awareness, and the ability to lead on the pitch.

As a result, younger profiles without top-level experience are being deprioritised.

Munoz’s profile works against him in this context. While his performances in La Liga have been promising, he is not viewed as a player who can immediately raise the competitive level of the first team.

Barcelona value his development, but do not see him as a priority signing for the upcoming window.
