Fighting game pros SonicFox and GO1 sent the crowd and commentators into a frenzy after pulling off a perfectly timed mirror in the opening seconds of their match during a tournament.
The two competitors, who have a long-standing friendly rivalry in the competitive fighting game circuit, went head-to-head during the Dragon Ball FighterZ Masters Showdown competition on April 19 in Los Angeles.
Whether the match’s perfectly choreographed opening was planned to a degree by both players before the match started isn’t clear, but the spectacle would have required pitch-perfect timing regardless, and subsequently went viral.

The match, uploaded by SonicFox on his YouTube channel, took place in the very first round of their face-off.
Both using Base Vegeta, the pair pulled off a perfectly synchronized, multi-hit opening combo before beginning the match proper.
To put the feat into perspective, FighterZ has a ‘Clash’ mechanic where, when both players perform an attack during a small window that connects at the same time, the damage that would have been otherwise inflicted is prevented for both.
In other words, pulling that off 20 times in a row in tandem with another player requires extremely precise timing. GO1 ultimately went on to clinch victory in the meeting.
The two have shared the stage numerous times previously at various events, with SonixFox and GO1 beating the other to secure victory at the Grand Finals at EVO 2018 and 2019, respectively.
While both competitors are known for playing a wide range of fighting games, SonicFox is known primarily for his domination of competitive Mortal Kombat. In 2025, he walked out of a finals tourney for MK1 over production issues.
