The desert heat and a dry, sandy haze hit early on Saturday, settling over the grounds of Revolve Festival in a sun-soaked blur.
“First of all, the dust is in my throat right now,” said Emmy-winning actress Karrueche Tran, laughing about the conditions. “You’ve got to consider the weather. It is hot AF.”
It had reached 90 degrees.
Tran had opted for chocolate brown leather micro shorts with a long, sheer mesh layer, nude gladiator-heel sandals, oversize shades and a cowboy hat. “The less clothes, the better.”
Having attended for years, Tran has watched the festival scene evolve into something centered as much on the parties as the performances.
“I think it’s just the freeness of it,” she said of the appeal. “There’s so many different events and activations. Some people come just for that. It’s just a good time, good fashion, good drinks.”
Among the weekend’s packed lineup of events, Revolve’s bash continues to stand out — still going strong as one of the most in-demand invites. With a carnival-like feel, this year’s party was filled with installations, brand moments and experiences at every turn, as influencers and creators documented it all in real time, a space the brand has long mastered in marketing and digital culture. Revolve also remains closely attuned to the musical pulse of the moment, with a performance from rapper Don Toliver, as well as Kehlani, drawing crowds and keeping the energy high.
Tran admitted she only briefly made it into the music festival grounds. “I was there for all of six minutes,” she said, adding that she caught part of Sabrina Carpenter’s set. “She’s so cute. I love her energy. She’s a great performer.”
As for Justin Bieber on night two, she said she may opt to watch from afar: “I might just chill at home and watch it on YouTube, and then go to the after parties. My claustrophobic self, I can’t do it.”
For Eric Nam, the singer-songwriter and actor who recently appeared on “The Traitors,” the experience also meant navigating the crowds.
“It tests your patience in many ways,” he said, candid about the realities of the festival. “A lot of lines, a lot of walking, even with the artist passes.” Artist passes sit at the top tier, offering backstage access and front-row viewing areas.
“Sorry, that’s so spoiled for me to say,” he added with a smile. “I’m having a great time. A lot of great music, a lot of friends here.”
Elsewhere, Teyana Taylor, Big Sean, Charli D’Amelio, Lisa, Jennie and Katseye were among guests, along with a slew of “Love Island” reality personalities, including breakout star Leah Kateb.
“This is the time to dress fun,” said Kateb, whose Skylar SPF was among the offerings at the party and is also sold by Revolve.
To her, the moment was about embracing both beauty and self-expression. She had on a skintight Hervé Léger minidress and Jimmy Choo kitten heels. “Dress like a vibe, whatever you want to put on.”
