Ja Morant x Nike Air Force 1 Low ‘Denim’ Release Date IQ9773-400

With Ja Morant’s signature Nike line reportedly set to receive a major overhaul in its fourth iteration, Nike is continuing to issue new looks for the NBA star’s lifestyle Air Force 1 collaboration.

Following the release of a Swarovski-encrusted style, a gum-sole NY vs. NY colorway and a bold “Let Me Be Ja” look, Morant’s special Air Force 1 makeups will continue this month with a new denim-draped take on the classic Nike sneaker.

The upcoming Light Armory Blue/Metallic Silver/White release features a nearly seamless upper that’s fully wrapped with a washed-out blue denim material. The pair is light on Morant branding, with references to the Memphis Grizzlies standout appearing only on the embroidered heel logo and on the signature shoelace dubraes.

Beyond the inclusion of the textile, this Air Force 1 is notable for featuring a seamless build reminiscent of Nike’s 2010s Vac Tech technology in which shoes were shaped with vacuum compression. The thermo-molded construction method eliminated the need for traditional seams and stitches.

Denim sneakers are hardly a new trend, but a number of athletic footwear brands have been increasingly leaning into the trend as of late. Whether full-on collaborations such as Levi’s numerous link-ups with Nike Inc. or nostalgic references like Adidas’ World Cup jersey-inspired Sambas and Converse’s 1990s Kentucky Wildcats-inspired release.

While Nike’s sneakers remain popular, the brand’s stock has struggled as of late. Following its third-quarter results report in March, the brand’s stock price plummeted to its lowest since 2014.

The Ja Morant x Nike Air Force 1 Low Denim will be released Friday from select retailers including DTLR for $130. And although the pair has not yet populated on Nike’s Snkrs app, it’s likely to receive a nike.com launch in the near future as well. The style code of this upcoming release is IQ9773-400.
