Fleur Du Mal Gets Sporty With Activewear Collection

Fleur du Mal, the New York-based lingerie and ready-to-wear brand founded by Jennifer Zuccarini, is expanding and on Wednesday will debut its Sport collection of workout wear accented with the brand’s signature lingerie details.

The founder and chief executive officer exclusively told WWD that the new category stems from customers and friends requesting activewear for years.

“It wasn’t until about two years ago, I started ideating on the category and building a collection with true performance fabrics, our signature Fleur du Mal lingerie details, combined with our bra fit expertise. I’m 100 percent this customer and work out regularly, so I had a strong point of view,” Zuccarini said of seeking fashion-leaning, performance-based styles for the variety of classes she enjoys, spanning from pilates, dance and cycling to weight training, yoga, boxing, tennis and more.

The Fleur du Mal Sport collection features 16 pieces designed for the “endorphin devotee who refuses to compromise on style,” the brand said. Key details of the collection include sports bras fit in bra sizing, soft yet sculpting leggings and corset-detailed nylon jackets and track pants, with signature lace and lingerie details throughout.

“It sounds crazy, but I couldn’t find a legging on the market that I loved for both the fabric and the styling. I think every piece in the collection has something unique about it, from corset lacing to lace inserts. We do have one fashion legging with lace that’s not super high-performance, but looks incredible,” Zuccarini said of the line’s core sport fabric — a four-way stretch jersey with true Lycra that offers both a soft hand feel with compression.

“We also incorporated our four-way Le Stretch lace which moves with you, a lightweight nylon for our track pants and jackets, and pima cotton for our Ts. Key styles include our Shaping Catsuit; I love this piece. It has a built-in bra, contouring seams that shape, it’s the most flattering style and is perfect for a workout but can also styled for a night out — barre to bar, as my team likes to say,” she said of her favorites from Fleur du Mal Sport, which also includes the track shorts with built-in undershort that reveals a little lace hem.

The Fleur du Mal Sport collection — priced $88 for the Le Stretch Lace Sports Bra, in black and storm blue, up to $395 for the Warm Up Jacket — is available to shop exclusively on the brand’s website.
