Announcement of new diplomatic appointments


August 14, 2025 – Ottawa, Ontario – Global Affairs Canada

The Honourable Anita Anand, Minister of Foreign Affairs, today announced the following diplomatic appointments:

Jennifer Lalonde will become High Commissioner in the Republic of Fiji. Ms. Lalonde will replace Keith Smith.  

Joanne Lemay will become Consul General in São Paulo (Federative Republic of Brazil). Ms. Lemay will replace Caroline Charette. 

Paul Thoppil will become High Commissioner in the Republic of Singapore. Mr. Thoppil will replace Jean-Dominique Ieraci.
