Asics’ Latest Low-Profile Sneaker Is Designed to Promote Mindfulness

The low-profile sneaker trend appears ready to carry on through yet another summer season and not only are there more options than ever, but the looks are going even lower.

If the slim-soled selections currently on the market haven’t been quite low enough for your liking, Asics may have the remedy with its recently released Hypersync sneaker. After arriving in two nearly sold-out styles in March, the Hypersync has just been released in new White/Pure Silver and Oyster White/Ivory colorways.

While the Hypersync draws inspiration from archive Asics wrestling and track & field footwear, the model itself is totally new. The Japanese sportswear company says the new shoe is intended to help wearers “connect more closely with your surrounding environments and experience the present moment.”

To achieve the on-trend yet functional design, Asics looked to its Hyperpower track shoe, using the sleek synthetic upper of the spikes. At the bottom, inspiration came from the Snapdown wrestling shoe. Still in production by Asics today, the Snapdown sole features circular pods for traction. And to add comfort to the otherwise minimally cushioned Hypersync, Asics added an OrthoLite X-40 sockliner paired with an OrthoLite heel cup.

Mindfulness-promoting footwear has been trending early in 2026 and appears like it will carry on throughout the year. The biggest example thus far is Nike’s Mind 001 mules and Mind 002 sneakers, each of which have been quick to sell out but are set to be released in numerous styles later this year. And Pharrell Williams’ Shoe of the Year-winning Adidas collaboration will soon add a similarly flat-sold sneaker to the market with the Virginia Vario Flat Earther, which will be released on April 11.

The unisex Asics Hypersync is available now in the White/Pure Silver and Oyster White/Ivory colorways pictured here for $110 each. The sneakers can be found from asics.com and select Asics Sportstyle retailers.
