A Steam game for the sickos who like organizing their collections

Why feel guilty about owning dozens of games you never play when you could spend time organizing them instead? I jest, but Boxroom is indeed a real game that gives you a virtual bedroom you can decorate however you see fit. Each game in your library gets its own box and packaging, and you get to decide where and how those boxes are displayed.

There are plenty of customization and furniture options, both for your collection and your living space. Boxroom also allows you to upload your own custom textures or mods, which can help personalize your library even further. Some games feature special editions and collectible figurines as well.

The game boxes have nice details, like manuals you can read and display options such as floppy discs. If you’re the type of person who can nerd out about shelving or interior design, then this game might be for you. And if you’re a real sicko, then you can use Boxroom to launch your games as well. Beyond the games, Boxroom allows you to tweak things like bedding, posters, and CRT displays.

There’s no release date yet, but Boxroom will be out sometime in 2026 via early access. The developers say they are aiming to be in early access for less than a year, and that each month will have a major update. The community will be tapped for more suggestions on what to add to the experience. Hopefully someone suggests a racing car bed! When the full game launches, it will be priced higher than the Early Access version.

“The full game will have approximately six times the content (furnishings) than it does at launch, and a slew of new features and improvements,” reads Boxroom’s Steam page.

Alternatively, check out Steam’s House and Home Fest sale event, which features similar chill simulators focused on virtual chores and household organization.
