Pharrell Williams and Adidas are going low-profile with the Vario Flat Earther silhouette debuting this week, but the new direction doesn’t mean they’re done with their chunky Jellyfish either.
The Pharrell x Adidas Jellyfish Crystal Sand delivers a beach aesthetic in a colorway debuted by the artist at the FN Achievement Awards in December. Shades of brown and cream come together throughout the shoe, and a trickle of light blue runs through the midsole. Black striping then matches the outsole that runs up through the toe tip.
As a reimagining of the 2005 Adistar Cushion 3 running shoe with bulbous TPU paneling and a hefty sole unit, the Jellyfish was named “Shoe of the Year” at the 2025 FNAAs. Williams wore the Crystal Sand colorway with a matching ostrich leather jacket and flared jeans to accept the award, and he was once again spotted in the shoe last weekend while wearing flared light wash denim at Adidas’ Abbey Road studio in London.
Speaking to Footwear News for a story on the award, Williams said: ‘”Go bigger’ was a mindset. If we’re going to do it, let’s really do it. So we stretched materials, stretched forms. We let the sole become sculpture, let the upper become architecture, let the idea of ‘running’ expand into ‘moving through life.’ Bigger just meant elevating everything.”
Earlier this year, Adidas added a close lookalike for the Jellyfish, the Adistar XLG 2.0, not tied to Williams and at a more approachable $150 price point.
The Pharrell x Adidas Jellyfish Crystal Sand will release in December through Adidas’ app and select third-party retailers. Pricing is set $300.
