Glen Powell is voicing Starfox’s Fox McCloud in the upcoming Super Mario Galaxy movie

It’s official: Glen Powell will be voicing Star Fox in the upcoming Super Mario Galaxy movie.

The movie star – known for his roles in Running Man and the (very appropriate) Top Gun Maverick – even announced the news with a lighthearted video posted to his personal Instagram. This video shows him Mario-hopping through a movie theatre before posing with Fox McCloud’s silver jacket.

The inclusion of Fox McCloud itself was only announced yesterday, as part of official art released by Nintendo ahead of the film’s release. This announcement itself proved a touch controversial, given his inclusion is a real wildcard that may have been a fantastic surprise in theatres.

This casting news comes shortly after a spree of other big reveals ahead of the film’s premiere next month on the 1st April. Actors Chris Pratt and Charlie Day seemingly confirmed a casting rumour recently, as hopes for a third Mario brother’s appearance rise.

There’s other characters speculated to be present too, including one character mentioned in a now deleted UK cinema description of the film (spoilers in that article, obviously). Wart was also seen in a recent trailer for the movie, a deep cut from some of the series’ older titles. Where’s Birdo though? That’s the real question.

A few months ago, IGN interviewed Glen Powell about whether or not he had a taste for video games. During this, Powell noted his love for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 and desire to play a role in a live action movie, if one were to happen.
