Anya Taylor-Joy Keeps Her Strappy Sandal Streak Going in Jimmy Choo

Anya Taylor-Joy kept her strappy sandal run going strong on Saturday night in Kyoto, wearing a white leather pair of Jimmy Choo’s Minny sandals to the premiere of “The Super Mario Galaxy Movie.” Taylor-Joy, who plays Princess Peach in the film, paired the white heels with a custom Dior minidress.

Taylor-Joy had spent the past stretch of the tour in Giuseppe Zanotti — from pointed Intriigo styles in New York to strappy Audrinette sandals on “Late Night With Seth Meyers” and another Zanotti pair in Tokyo. In Kyoto, she returned to a cleaner Jimmy Choo line. The Minny is one of the brand’s longest-running evening sandals, and Jimmy Choo currently describes the 110 mm style as a “red-carpet icon.” The house lists the silhouette at $895, with satin versions now offered in Rosa and Canyon.

Taylor-Joy’s pair appeared in a white leather finish rather than satin. A slim strap crossed the toes. At the heel, a thin ankle strap fastened with a small buckle above a vertical sling and intersecting side strap that formed a sharp crisscross line behind the foot. A high stiletto heel lifted the back without a platform, crystal trim or extra hardware.

She paired the minimalist strappy sandals with a custom strapless Dior minidress featuring dense white beading and pink cherry-blossom embroidery across the bodice and skirt. The skirt featured a wide structured shape that nodded to Princess Peach’s full, bell-shaped silhouette, with a lifted front hem and blossom strands hanging below the edge. She completed the look with Tiffany & Co. Diamonds.

The return to Minny also placed Taylor-Joy inside a red carpet pattern that has kept moving this season: thin white or neutral sandals used to steady dresses doing much more at the top line or hem. Emma Stone wore Jimmy Choo’s Minny to a BAFTA after party in February, and Priyanka Chopra Jonas wore the Minny 110 satin stiletto sandals to the Vanity Fair Oscar Party later that month. Taylor-Joy has reached for the style before as well, which made the Kyoto look read less like a one-off and more like a reset after a week of sharper Giuseppe Zanotti moments.
