What are we all playing this weekend?

There is a significant danger that this article will have aged terribly. You see, I asked everyone what they were playing this weekend on Thursday, rather than the usual post-lunch scramble on a Friday. You see, I took Friday off to travel to Wales to spend a long weekend with my family. Who knows what happened between my polling of the team on Thursday and Friday? Perhaps Valve surprise released Half-Life 3 and everyone is playing that instead. Maybe they all went off videogames in the interim.

I can only hope they thought to go into the CMS and update the article accordingly. Otherwise, I’ll look like a right plonker.

Back home this weekend to visit the family, so not many games for me. Will probably bring the Switch and offer up more hours of servitude to my all-consuming overlord, Pokopia. Other than that, I’ll be playing the very challenging game of ‘go to my local and try not to get stopped for a chat by every mum, dad, cub scout leader, and former teacher I met from ages 1 – 18.’ In small town Wales, that game is harder than anything FromSoftware has ever put out, lemme tell you.

James
I’m off to Uzbekistan today to relieve the nation of its entire pilaf supply. That does mean limiting games to whatever I can fit on a Steam Deck, but with Screamer and unfinished Elden Ring spellsword playthrough, I’ll still be eating well.

Ollie
I’m stretching out the Modulus demo as much as I can, tearing down everything I’ve built so that I can build it up again with 5% increased efficiency. Besides that, it’s the usual churn of Marathon and Trackmania. I wanted also to call attention to the new Weekly Grand races in Trackmania – they’re 10-lap races around fairly simple tracks, with the added difficulty of 30-odd “ghost” cars ahead of you, which can interfere with you, and knock you miles off your line, but you can’t interfere with them at all. They’re not ghosts anymore, they’re more like Vision from Captain America: Civil War, phasing through everything as suits him. I hate them.

I’m keen to see what Screamer’s online races are like now it’s out, and also maybe out-drag some boxy Suzukis on the expressway of Tokyo Extreme Racer. Also, Atomfall’s a year old now, so I might finally check out its DLC.

Edwin
I feel like this weekend is going to be gaming-lite, but I might dust off Legend of Khiimori. My horse probably needs a rubdown. Or perhaps I will have another stab at playing Sable, a game that quite bizarrely gave me motion sickness when I tried it on console.

Jeremy
I have the next week off to entertain my brother, sister-in-law, niece and nephew as they travel across the pond to visit me, so I very much doubt there will be much in the way of game playing occurring anytime soon, unless it’s watching my nephew amuse himself with Animal Crossing or Good Pizza, Great Pizza, which is on my Steam account and may very well become my most played game thanks to all of the time that he and my wife spend with it. We’re also going to Paris for a few days. I have a vague dream that I might walk into a bookshop there and find a copy of this elusive French-only Prince of Persia book, which I won’t be able to read but would love to have on my bookshelf thanks to its snazzy cover art.

Julian
I will be looking after seven (7) nieces and nephews this weekend, and while a good games journalist might be taking along a bumper pack of party games to keep them entertained, I’m not going to risk the hardware. Instead, I will be opening the french windows, letting them run out into a field, and then stand watch with a pair of binoculars to make sure they don’t stray too far. I will be taking the Steam Deck with me, though, so when everyone’s gone to bed, I can play a bit more of Minos.

And you, reader dear, what are you playing this weekend…?
