E-vehicle policies, household debt and ‘pharmaceutical sovereignty’ on the agenda

What’s on the agenda for the House and Senate committees today.

Representatives of the Beachman Motor Company and Canadian Association of Moldmakers, along with University of Ottawa senior fellow Margaret McGuaig-Johnston and McGill University visiting lecturer Julian Karaguesian are set to share their perspectives on the federal government’s e-vehicle policies with INDUSTRY AND TECHNOLOGY members. (11 a.m.)

Over at FINANCE, MPs take a closer look at household debt with senior departmental officials, as well as representatives of Equifax and TransUnion Canada. (8:15 a.m.)

Also this morning:

  • INDIGENOUS AND NORTHERN AFFAIRS members continue to go over the fine print of Sen. Yvonne Boyer’s proposal to criminalize sterilization without consent during back-to-back panel discussions with representatives of the Association of Obstetricians and Gynecologists of Quebec, Federation of Medical Women of Canada and National Association of Women and the Law. (8:15 a.m.)
  • CANADIAN HERITAGE members are set to wrap up clause-by-clause review on two separate backbench bids to establish April as Arab Heritage Month and September as Ukrainian Heritage Month, with respective sponsors Liberal MP Ahmed Hussen, Sen. Paul Kutcher and Liberal MP Yvan Baker expected to be in attendance. (8:15 a.m.)

Later this afternoon, Canadian Medical Association president Margot Burnell, Médicament Québec executive director Arianna Trudeau and Grifols Canada vice-president Mary Hughes are among the expert witnesses set to testify as HEALTH members continue to explore “Canada’s pharmaceutical sovereignty.” (3:30 p.m.)

Rounding out the roster, PUBLIC SAFETY AND NATIONAL SECURITY members get a briefing on the “role” that the Canada Border Services Agency plays in the H20 corridor, as well as “port clearance practices,” courtesy of senior CBSA officials, as well as representatives of the Hamilton-Oshawa Port Authority and Société du Port de Valleyfield. (3:30 p.m.)
