Barcelona forward admits frustration over current situation: ‘I deserve to play more’

Roony Bardghji has expressed his frustration over a lack of playing time in his debut season with Barcelona, raising fresh questions about his role in a squad filled with attacking talent.

The Swedish winger, who arrived with considerable expectations, has found opportunities limited so far, largely due to intense competition, particularly from breakout star Lamine Yamal on the right flank.

Despite showing flashes of quality, Bardghji has struggled to secure consistent minutes in a system where performances are heavily scrutinised.

Unhappy with his situation

Reflecting on his situation in an interview with Sverige Television (h/t Mundo Deportivo), Bardghji did not hold back when assessing his season so far.

“The truth is that so far I haven’t had much playing time.”

Even though Barcelona are active in La Liga and Champions League title race, the youngster believes there should be more opportunities for rotation.

“I’m patient, but honestly, I think I deserve to play more,” he added.

Statistically, Bardghji has contributed when called upon, registering two goals and four assists in just 615 minutes across all competitions.

However, those numbers have not yet translated into a bigger role within the team.

When pressed on whether he is satisfied with his current situation, the winger was refreshingly honest.

“No. I’m definitely not happy, but that’s football.”

Despite this frustration, Bardghji was careful to maintain a respectful tone towards both the coaching staff and his teammates.

“I have the utmost respect for those who have been on the roster for a long time,” he admitted.

Committed to Barcelona

Bardghji’s commitment to the club remains evident.

Despite attracting strong interest from multiple European sides in January, Bardghji chose to join Barcelona.

However, interest in his situation has not faded, as reports suggest that clubs from Portugal and the Bundesliga have already approached Barcelona regarding a potential loan deal that would offer him a more prominent role.
