Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream’s “Welcome Version” demo is available now, and you can transfer your saves to the full game

Don’t get too comfortable in Pokémon Pokopia, Nintendo fans. Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream is around the corner with a different flavour of life sim fun and nostalgic vibes. In fact, you can now download its demo.

Announced via Nintendo’s social media accounts on 25th March, the Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream demo on the eShop is dubbed “Welcome Version” and allows players to create up to three Miis and transfer their save data to the full version of the game when it releases on 16th April.

Finishing the demo (though we’re not sure what “finishing” means in the context of a chill sandbox) will also grant players a hamster costume for their Miis which can be used in the full version. Who doesn’t like making a goofy game even goofier?

For the most part, this next iteration of the zany Tomodachi Life series is looking like a ton of uncomplicated fun. Plus, it’s finally delivering on old promises like same-sex relationships, yet fans and newcomers alike were left totally confused by Nintendo’s approach to image sharing this time around. Mind you, we should still be able to plug our Switch consoles into the nearest computer via USB to transfer our silly screens, but it truly feels like Nintendo clipping the game’s wings before it’s even out, in some regards.

In any case, excitement for Living the Dream still seems high, but considering it’s not based on a renowned multimedia IP, nobody should expect a hit anywhere near the shocking numbers that Pokopia is pulling or 2020’s Animal Crossing: New Horizons, especially if you take into account it belongs to a much smaller and more restrained (but nonetheless beloved) series of games.

As a final note, we must underline a native Nintendo Switch 2 version of Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream hasn’t been announced. Instead, a single Switch release will work across both machines, without unique boosts.
