How to cook fish porridge in Crimson Desert

You’ll need to know how to cook fish porridge in Crimson Desert fairly early on, because the “Renee’s Request” quest tasks you with making it. It’s essentially a cooking tutorial, but with a few different types of fish porridge available, it’s not quite as straightforward as it could be.

Renee wants you to make three fish porridge dishes for a guest she’s hosting, but she’s never cooked fish before. Instead of telling her that you haven’t either — heck, Kliff hardly even knows what a fish is, given how he has to “learn” about it when you first acquire the fillets — you accept the task keenly.

However, it’s easy to get this Crimson Desert quest wrong, because Renee is not explicitly clear about the type of fish porridge she needs. Here’s a complete explainer on what you actually need to do to complete “Renee’s Request” and how to make fish porridge.

When you speak to Renee, she’ll give you the fish porridge recipe, which allows you to make four different versions: hearty, filling, modest, and plain ol’ fish. You can learn how to make these by examining the recipe; just hold L1/LB if you’re using a controller or Ctrl on a keyboard.

To cook the fish porridge, you’ll need to interact with any cooking pot or bonfire that you find around Pywel. Luckily, there’s one just outside of Renee’s house.

After you interact with the cooking pot, switch over to the third tab where you’ll see four types of fish porridge available with slightly different names:

  • Fish porridge
  • Filling fish porridge
  • Satisfying fish porridge
  • Hearty fish porridge

All you need to do is make three of the standard fish porridge. Renee gives you all the required ingredients, so you don’t need to source any of it yourself either.

However, if you’ve somehow managed to use up the ingredients before making the correct meal, acquiring more fish fillets isn’t too difficult. You can head to Rodbel Fishing Dock, directly east of the Church of Hernand and next to the Nas River Shrine, to find a merchant with fish for sale. Alternatively, you can catch your own, provided you have a fishing rod.

Once you have a fish in your inventory, select the option to clean it. This also prepares it, giving you some fish fillets. You can find the rest of the ingredients for sale from Delkin, the grocer just up the road from Renee.

Handing over the three fish porridges to Renee will reward you with +50 trust, and two sacks of barley. What a haul.
