Thousands of runners will turn the Chicago streets green, for the return of the Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle.

Nearly 20,000 runners are expected to take off in this popular race, to kick off the spring running season.

The annual tradition is held a week after the Chicago River dyeing and continues with St. Patrick’s Day celebrations.
Runners come decked out in their green running attire.
There is a 2-mile walking course, and an 8K-mile course.
Walkers go along the lakefront and then runners go throughout downtown.
Wave one of the race starts at 8:30 a.m.
Street closures along the route will occur between 7:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. The roads in Grant Park are expected to be closed longer:
-Columbus Drive from Roosevelt Road to Grand Avenue
-Grand Avenue from Columbus Drive to State Street
-State Street from Grand Avenue to Wacker Drive

-Roosevelt Rd. from Michigan Avenue to Columbus Drive
Last year’s race brought 28,000 runners to the Chicago area.
