Nascar star Joey Logano is taking his racing skillset to the local Ford (F) dealer.

Logano, 35, recently made headlines for purchasing an ownership stake in Huntersville Ford in North Carolina. It’s Logano’s home dealership, and he has wasted no time getting the ins and outs of running a successful business.

“Strategically, it makes a lot of sense for me and where I am in my life at this point,” Logano said in a new episode of Yahoo Finance’s Opening Bid Unfiltered podcast (video above, listen here). “I’ve been racing in the Cup Series for 17 plus years. I’ve been racing a Ford for 14 or 15 of them, something like that. So I have a great relationship with them.”

“And the opportunity sits there right now as someone that can impact that business in unique ways,” he added. “I’m not there running the day-to-day business … I can help connect the dots on a lot of different things.”

Known in racing circles as “Sliced Bread” for being the greatest thing since that invention, Logano has evolved from a teenage prodigy into one of the most decorated and polarizing figures in NASCAR history.

Making his Cup Series debut at just 18 years old, Logano faced early immense pressure at Joe Gibbs Racing before finding his home with Team Penske in 2013.

Under the Penske banner, he became a perennial championship threat, capturing the NASCAR Cup Series title in 2018 and 2022 and winning the prestigious Daytona 500 in 2015.

Logano said he still has a lot left in the tank and is far from contemplating retirement.

“You’re usually entering the prime [in sports] at 40-ish years old,” Logano said. “So it’s two ways you can go with your life at that point. You can either shut down when you retire from your sport and be done forever and enjoy life. That’s not me … [I] have that competitive spirit in me, I’m going to want to continue. So I don’t know when that day comes, but I want to make sure I have avenues to fill the void.”

The current standings for the 2026 NASCAR Cup Series season have Logano in 11th place. He hasn’t logged a win yet.

The sport’s watchers have been fixated on Michael Jordan’s 23XI racing team. Tyler Reddick has come out hot, winning the first three races of the season and being the early leader in the NASCAR standings. His teammate, Bubba Wallace, is No. 2 in the NASCAR points standings.
