Less than 24 hours after the Oscars, Maison Margiela turned its attention to composition, hosting a cocktail party on Monday evening in its Los Angeles store on Melrose Place to mark the launch of its spring 2026 coed campaign and accompanying film.
The event centered on the campaign’s score by Oscar-nominated composer Max Richter, recognized for his work on “Hamnet,” who was in attendance and central to the project.
“Playing music together allows us to understand one another in a unique way and to communicate a shared vision that elevates and transforms us,” Richter said in a statement.
Guests, a creative crowd including musicians Maria Zardoya of The Marías, Orville Peck and Lykke Li, gathered to toast “Joy,” a short film tied to the campaign and collection. The film features Richter performing his original composition with 43 young musicians from Association Orchestre à l’École, a French nonprofit that brings orchestral practice into schools. Shot at the Théâtre de la Villette in Paris, it builds on a theme introduced in the runway show, where young musicians also appeared.
Throughout the film, Richter wears looks from the new collection, emphasizing its tailored silhouette, while the young musicians appear in oversize suits finished with the house’s “Bianchetto” treatment. The campaign also highlights key accessories from the collection, which launched on March 11 in stores and online, including the reintroduction of the Heel-less shoe and the debut of the Box bag.
Marking the collaboration, a playlist curated by Richter and the young orchestra around the theme of “joy” is now available on Maison Margiela’s Spotify account.
Attendees spanned music, fashion, sport, film and the arts, with Sami Miro, Chloe Kim, Odessa Rae, Lux Pascal, Sydney Lemmon, Luis Gerardo Méndez, Ian Ousley, Brittany Byrd, Delfin and Kohshin Finley, Dana Boulos, Terrence O’Connor, Courtney Trop and Denzel Dion.
