Death Stranding 2’s PC launch comes with a tougher new mode and, staying true to the brand, live-action cutscenes

That there PC release of Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is now only a couple of days away, and with that Kojima Productions et al have decided to grace us with those last few details about the new stuff that’ll be coming alongside its launch. If you’re just interested in whether you can run it on your rig or not, well, luckily the system requirements were released last month, so you’re already sorted there.

On to the new stuff! For starters, according to this handy PlayStation Blog post, a new “to the wilder,” (decapitalisation theirs, not mine) difficulty mode will be available to have a go at. It’s one for those after a challenge, with the only details provided about it being that there will be “deadly enemies” and that “completing orders will require every ounce of ingenuity you can muster.”

You’ll also be able to don Sam with some bandanas that don’t quite Solid Snakeify him that can be acquired through completing some new VR training missions that see you repeating fights against Neil (the guy who is definitely just Snake again). George Miller’s Chiral Feline may also now appear in the private room on the DHV Magellan, including in the game’s photo mode.

Weirdly, one detail that was omitted from the blog post, but apparently mentioned in Hideo Kojima’s podcast Spacewalk (thanks MP1st and Okami) is the fact that there will be live action cutscenes that were originally cut due to capacity limits. I await the “Kojima just wants to make a movie” comments with not particularly baited breath.

Death Stranding 2: On the Beach will be getting its hiking boots on later this week when it launches on PC on March 19th.
