Barcelona forward ready to take pay cut to continue despite lucrative offers from abroad

Barcelona could be heading towards a crucial contract decision involving Robert Lewandowski, and the early signs suggest the striker has already made up his mind.

According to an update from Mundo Deportivo, it has come to light that Lewandowski’s priority is to continue at Barcelona, even if it means making significant personal sacrifices.

Despite being in the latter stages of his career, the Polish forward is not looking for a final big payday elsewhere.

Instead, he is open to reducing his salary and even accepting a more limited role within the squad, which is a clear indication of his desire to remain part of the project under Hansi Flick.

This development comes at a time when Lewandowski’s contract is approaching its final months, and he has several offers on the table.

Visit of his agent

There had been speculation surrounding the recent visit of super-agent Pini Zahavi to the city, especially given his representation of Lewandowski and Flick.

However, reports suggest that his trip had nothing to do with contract discussions.

Instead, Zahavi’s presence in Barcelona was primarily to support his long-time associate Joan Laporta following his recent presidential election victory.

No formal talks regarding Lewandowski’s future, or even Flick’s for that matter, were held during that visit.

No shortage of suitors

Even so, Lewandowski is not short of options, as interest from Chicago Fire continues to grow, while clubs from Saudi Arabia are also monitoring his situation closely.

These offers, financially attractive as they may be, have not changed the player’s mindset.

Lewandowski, who will turn 38 in August, understands his role will evolve, but his willingness to adapt, both financially and tactically, shows how much he appreciates the club and the city.

From Barcelona’s side, Laporta has already expressed his desire to keep the striker. However, with no negotiations underway yet, the situation remains unresolved for now.
