Mia Goth put the focus on the heel at the 2026 Vanity Fair Oscar Party, pairing a custom Dior dress with Roger Vivier’s black satin Marlene Strass sandals in Los Angeles on Sunday night. The pair carried one of the clearer novelty-heel trends currently picking up steam: a crystal boule set low at the base of a slim stiletto, turning a minimal sandal into something much more specific.

Goth wore the Marlene in black satin with a square open toe, a single broad band across the front and a thin ankle strap fastened with a small crystal buckle. From the front, the shoe read spare and clean. From the back, Roger Vivier’s signature detail came into view. A pavé crystal sphere sat just above the heel tip, interrupting the line of the stiletto without widening the silhouette. The style is priced at $1,345.

That jeweled sphere tied Goth into a small but noticeable run of orb-led heel details this season. In February, Ashley Graham wore Charles & Keith slingbacks in Milan with a crystal ball set into the heel. Earlier this month, Nicole Kidman wore Chanel’s apple-heel slingbacks in New York, where a bright red orb interrupted the back of a cap-toe pump. Goth’s pair sat in the same lane, though Roger Vivier’s version came from a much older house code.
Roger Vivier’s archive traces the jeweled sphere back to 1955, when the maison developed the Boule heel, a form long associated with Marlene Dietrich. The current Marlene line revives that idea in sandal and pump form, keeping the crystal ball low on the heel rather than turning it into a full novelty shape. That gave Goth’s shoes a sharper fit with the rest of her look, which paired a severe black satin front and open back with a short, layered ivory lace skirt edged in crystals.

Goth paired the sandals with a custom Dior dress that shifted hard from front to back. A black satin front gave way to an open back and a short ivory skirt built from layered lace tiers edged in shimmering crystals. A heavy black satin drape wrapped over one side of the skirt, leaving the sandals visible from the side and rear angles. The after party appearance extended Goth’s current Dior run after the house named her a brand ambassador in September ahead of Jonathan Anderson’s womenswear debut.

The Vanity Fair Oscar Party entered its 31st year on Sunday and moved to LACMA for the first time. Held after the 98th Academy Awards, the invitation-only event remained one of Oscars night’s most watched late stops, drawing actors, musicians, nominees and presenters to the publication’s annual celebration.
